The major objective of the meetings will be to bring together the local community of researchers with interests in the meeting topic, from a variety of perspectives, in a relaxed low-key environment that encourages interaction and discussion. Similar to the US Gordon Conferences the meeting will be based on a live-in eat-in format, maximising opportunities for interaction whilst making the meeting economical for participants. Also similar to the Gordon Conferences, abstracts will be not be published in any form. We are particularly keen to encourage participation by students and early-career researchers and provide an opportunity for them to present their work.

Each meeting in the series will focus on a particular topic, with topics potentially cycling on a 2-3 year cycle. Current plans are:

• 2011 We had a second meeting on Ion Channels and Transporters
• 2012 We had a second meeting on Muscle
• 2013 We had a third meeting on Ion Channels and Transporters
• 2014 We had a third meeting on Muscle
• 2015 We had a fourth meeting on Ion Channels and Transporters
• 2016 We had a fourth meeting on Muscle
• 2017 We had a fifth meeting on Ion Channels and Transporters
• 2018 We had a fifth meeting on Muscle
• 2019 We had a sixth meeting on Ion Channels and Transporters
• 2020 The planned sixth meeting on Muscle scheduled for April had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
